Aetna HD Members Plan Change
Hello TSBHP Member:
Our records show that you have elected the Aetna High Deductible (HD) plan for the upcoming plan year that begins on September 1, 2023. We are reaching out to inform you that there have been some updates to the plan offerings for the 2023-24 plan year. The Aetna HD plan is no longer an available option for our members. We recognize that this news may come as a surprise, and apologize for any impact or inconvenience this may cause you and/or your family.
TSHBP does offer the TSHBP High Deductible plan that is compatible with an HSA Account. In order to ensure none of our members are without insurance, we will be automatically moving our members that have elected the Aetna HD Plan, into the TSHBP HD plan.

Please note:
- The TSHBP HD Plan is a directed care plan. This plan requires that you utilize a Care Coordinator to access any planned diagnostic and medical procedures, such as an MRI, Colonoscopy, Outpatient Surgery, Inpatient admission, etc. For additional information on the Care Coordinator process, please review these two documents and video:
- Both In and Out of Network Benefits are available with the TSHBP HD Plan.
- Additionally, for the 2023-24 plan year, Specialty Drugs will be covered under the TSHBP HD Plan.
We know that selecting a plan design that's right for you and your family's needs is important. During Open Enrollment, we would encourage you to review the plan offerings and ensure this plan best meets you and your family’s needs.

If a member, and/or covered dependent, is currently undergoing treatment of care, TSHBP has a Transition of Care program they may qualify for due to the discontinuation of the Aetna HD plan. You can access the Transition of Care Form here.
No. That money can still be used on any plan selected. However, you will need to be on a High Deductible plan to continue to contribute to a HSA Account.
